Have you ever after the long trip or came from work noticed that your digital clocks showing the wrong time?
You might think “Certainly there was no power outage!” . Even if it was, you simply cannot know how long there was no electricity, do you?
Maybe it was for a few days, leading to defrost food and its deterioration. Foods freeze again when electricity comes back and you almost do not notice that they were thawed.
It can be very dangerous, because food are at risk of spreading bacteria like salmonella !
Today you discover a way to still find out if and how long your freezer was without electricity!
You will find out whether the food was too long being in warm or may be consumed.
- a cup
Into a bowl pour water and place in the freezer to freeze. Put a coin on the top of the cup when in the cup remains only ice and then return it to the freezer.
When you back home from holidays , before eating food from the freezer, look at where the coin is!
If the coin is still at the top or possibly in the middle of the ice cubes in a cup, or there was not a power failure or power outage was for a short time, so the water was only partly melted.
If the coin is at the bottom of a cup, that means that electricity failure was for a long time, so the water completely dissolved, and the coin sinks all the way to the bottom. Not consume that foods from the freezer.
Brilliant and easy trick to use. Especially useful when you go on a long trip!
